Acupuncture for the Older Adult

Our health concerns change as we get older.

Things that never bothered us before can suddenly cause pain and other troublesome symptoms.  Acupuncture can play a crucial role in helping you to maintain your health and vitality no matter what your symptoms, so that you can do what you want and live life your way.

The first stage of treatment always involves eliminating or improving your symptoms.  For example, we might work together to decrease pain, regulate digestion, increase circulation and improve sleep.  The idea is to get you to the best place that you can be.  This usually requires regular weekly treatments.

The next stage of treatment is about maintaining your health in that good place.  This involves regular acupuncture treatments and nutritional and lifestyle recommendations. My patients who come for treatment every 2-3 weeks see incredible results and are able to keep themselves feeling great over months and years!

I’ve helped patients with all of these conditions and more:

  • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Bladder Control
  • Recovery from Injuries and Surgeries
  • Hypertension
  • COPD: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Arthritis
  • Dupuytren’s Contracture
  • Constipation
  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis

If you don’t see your condition on the list please contact me to discuss your situation.  Acupuncture helps with many, many conditions.  I look forward to talking with you!

“Several years ago, I had to contend with lower back/hip pain in my right side, which also affected nerves down my leg. I had also developed peripheral neuropathy in my feet. I knew little about acupuncture, but saw a silent auction offer from Jessica at the YMCA for an introductory session and decided to bid on it. That started a relationship that continues to this day. Jessica was very thorough in interviewing me and made me comfortable and at ease. I began coming regularly - biweekly - and found those experiences to be relaxing and helpful. While my particular issues are chronic, the application of the needles gives significant relief and, most importantly, keeps things from getting worse. My neuropathy has stayed mild for the past 5 years. Also, our conversations give me solid advice about what I should and should not be doing. Also, I developed in my left hand a condition called Dupuytren’s Contracture, a buildup in the tendons of the hand that, if left untreated, leads to the fingers being unable to straighten out, causing loss of the use of the hand. Other medical treatments are costly and dangerous. We thought we would give acupuncture a try, and after a period of time, not only did the growth stagnate, there is some decrease in the size of the buildup. My hand has remained fully functional for the past 4 years. I have full confidence in Jessica’s work, and look forward to our regular sessions.”
